Rangers dubbed ‘irrelevance’ as huge factor called out at Ibrox ahead of Kilmarnock win
Danny Rohl’s win over Kilmarnock was the first time Rangers have been victorious at home in the Scottish Premiership this season.
There were concerns when Rohl replaced Russell Martin at Ibrox, but it seems he could truly prove his doubters wrong this season.
Rangers triumphed in a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock under Rohl’s guidance to claim all three points on Sunday.
Despite Jack Butland’s howler to concede Kilmarnock’s only goal of the game, the win was convincing and will finally hand fans some optimism moving forward.

Keith Jackson points out Rangers’ irrelevance in title race
After Rohl’s side defeated Kilmarnock at home, Rangers rose to fifth in the Premiership on 12 points.
Given their performances under Martin and winning only two games this season, most fans will be content with their position. However, Keith Jackson has a slightly different outlook.
In the print version of the Daily Record (page 39, 27 October), he pointed out that Rangers were irrelevant in the title conversation heading into the game. As a result, the outcome of the confrontation did not matter all that much.
He said: “That Rangers have reduced themselves to nothing much more than an irrelevance in the conversation is another huge factor in this potential unfolding fairytale.
“So much so, when Rohl’s side kicked off against Kilmarnock later yesterday afternoon, the outcome of that match did not matter either way because the target at Ibrox right now is an outside shot at a third-place finish.”

This, of course, comes off the back of Hearts’ outstanding start to the season, who are currently eight points clear at the top of the table after defeating Celtic at home on 26 October.
The Jam Tarts will be eyeing a historic title charge this season, and for Jackson, as it stands, Rangers pose little threat.
Rangers were dominant against Kilmarnock
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Rangers’ win over Kilmarnock was how dominant and clinical Rohl’s side was.
The Gers created two big chances and netted three against the visitors, according to Sofascore.
- Rangers took 13 shots to Kilmarnock’s seven
- The Gers completed 575 passes to their opponents, 198
- They took 13 free kicks to Kilmarnock’s nine
Rangers were always expected to dominate at home, but having 74 per cent possession and putting on a complete attacking performance is impressive.
While Hearts have had a great start to the season, there will most likely be a point when they lose pace, and when they do, Rangers will be waiting.
