Ally McCoist baffled by what Rangers and Celtic have done as alarm bells ring
Rangers got back to winning ways as they beat Kilmarnock 3-1 in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.
Ibrox hosted Stuart Kettlewell’s team on 26 October, with the Gers managing to get a crucial three points as they look to climb up the league table.
Danny Rohl seems to have finally unlocked Youssef Chermiti, with the Portugal Under-21 international scoring his first goal for the Light Blues.
While the German manager will look to build on the victory, he may have underlying issues at the Glaswegian outfit that can’t be resolved in the short term.

Rangers and Celtic squads lack quality
Ally McCoist can’t believe the sudden demise at the two Old Firm clubs this season.
The Gers icon believes Hearts might end up going all the way in the William Hill Premiership after beating Celtic 3-1 at Tynecastle Park, and is baffled by the lack of quality at Ibrox and Parkhead.
McCoist has seemingly rung the alarm bells at the Glaswegian outfits, with their squads looking a shadow of their former selves.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 27 October, the Scotsman said: “It looks to me, at this early stage, as though [Hearts] might be there for the duration, but the demise in the quality of Rangers and Celtic is both alarming and staggering.”
McCoist also hit out at the signing of Mikey Moore, with Findlay Curtis already on the books at the Gers.
The Light Blues will hope Rohl can continue to make improvements in G51 as they look to make the most of the season.
Kevin Thelwell decision imminent at Ibrox
Kevin Thelwell is lucky to still have a job at Ibrox, given that the sporting director oversaw an underwhelming recruitment strategy in the summer.
Rangers had a net spend of around £20million after the previous transfer window, but that hasn’t translated on the pitch.
| Players | Transfer fee |
| Youssef Chermiti | £8million |
| Oliver Antman | £3.5m |
| Thelo Aasgaard | £3.5m |
| Bojan Miovski | £2.6m |
| Emmanuel Fernandez | £2.5m |
The former Everton chief prioritised adding players from down south, as evidenced by nine of his 12 signings coming from English football.
Thelwell isn’t a popular figure among supporters, and the next time Rohl slips up, the knives will be out once again for the sporting director’s dismissal, which has felt inevitable for several weeks now.
