Scottish Premiership get it all wrong yet again with latest Rangers announcement

Rangers and the Scottish Premiership have never been the best of friends.

Several managers in charge at Ibrox have been unhappy over the treatment of their squad, with the Light Blues often put in centre stage for the media.

It is no secret that Rangers have been dreadful so far, somehow sitting sixth in the Scottish Premiership, 13 points behind Hearts after only eight games.

Danny Rohl is now in charge and has the task of turning that around, starting with a woeful Rangers defeat against Brann on Thursday, losing 3-0 in Norway.

What have the Scottish Premiership done now?

In the build-up to the Europa League clash against Brann in Norway on 23 October, it was sneakily confirmed that an away trip to Kilmarnock had been changed.

Instead of playing on the Sunday, like some expected, Rangers will now travel south of Glasgow for an 8:00 pm kick-off on Saturday, 6 December.

The league have once again forgotten about the fans, making it a late trip in busy traffic, before making them arrive home likely close to midnight.

Not only that, but Rangers have a game on the previous Wednesday too, taking a two-hour trip to Dundee United on 3 December.

With no game following that until the Thursday in the Europa League against Ferencváros on 11 December, in Hungary, there was no excuse not to play this in the early kick-off on 7 December.

Instead, Hearts will travel to Celtic at 3:00 pm on the Sunday, with Sky Sports taking no care when it comes to the fans.

Have Rangers managers complained before?

The short answer is yes.

Philippe Clement was not happy back in November 2023, when an away trip to Livingston was scheduled for the early kick-off on a Sunday, days after beating Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

His predecessor, Michael Beale, also called out the Scottish Premiership, telling them to ease fixture congestion after four games in 10 days.

Those calls obviously fell on deaf ears, with the media and possible financial gain taking priority.

Rohl will have to deal with that at Rangers, but it is clear that the Scottish Premiership have simply got it all wrong yet again.
