‘Rangers and Aberdeen statistic an embarrassment for Scottish football’
Rangers and Aberdeen both failed to win their European ties against Brann and AEK Athens, respectively, on Thursday.
Brann Stadion hosted Danny Rohl’s team on 23 October, giving the German manager much food for thought in his first game in charge of the Gers.
On the other hand, Jimmy Thelin suffered at the hands of the Greek outfit, who dominated the William Hill Premiership side in the 6-0 victory.
Russell Martin risked humiliation in the Europa League, with the Glaswegian outfit predicted to finish 34th in the table, but now things could get worse.

Rangers and Aberdeen bottom of tables in Europe
After losing to Brann, the Gers find themselves at the bottom of the Europa League table with a goal difference of -5.
Similarly, Aberdeen are 36th in the Conference League, which doesn’t bode well for Scottish football’s reputation.
Keith Jackson was disappointed when told about the two William Hill Premiership outfits’ European prospects, terming it an “embarrassment”.
Speaking on Hotline Live on 24 October, the journalist said: “It’s embarrassing. That’s an embarrassment on both counts from both clubs. And Scottish football, we get embarrassed enough. That’s a really embarrassing statistic. Horrible.”
Rohl didn’t shy away from the travelling Ibrox faithful, showing he at least understands the mood among the fans, unlike Martin, who failed to grasp it.
The former Sheffield Wednesday boss will now have to turn his attention to Kilmarnock, with Stuart Kettlewell’s team travelling to Govan on 26 October.
Danny Rohl has one priority at Ibrox
Rangers will face Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final on 2 November, which could potentially be a season-defining game for Rohl.
The Light Blues are 13 points behind Hearts in the William Hill Premiership, and it would be surprising to see them catch up to Derek McInnes’ team.
While Celtic haven’t been at their best, the Gers haven’t been able to capitalise on their Old Firm rivals’ struggles this season.
With qualification to the Europa League’s knockout stages unlikely at Ibrox, Rohl should prioritise the domestic cup competitions, which could potentially salvage what’s been an abysmal campaign in G51.
