Rangers fans to be excited as Danny Rohl brings treble-winning football to Ibrox
Danny Rohl will be expected to make an instant impact at Rangers after being appointed the new manager.
The former Sheffield Wednesday manager has no time to waste at the Gers after a poor start to the season in G51.
Rohl’s appointment at Ibrox has received some backlash from fans, with Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat seen as better options to fill the vacancy.
Andrew Cavenagh must be regretting appointing Russell Martin, but supporters feel the Glaswegian outfit’s chairman hasn’t learnt any lessons by hiring someone who’s perceived to have a similar footballing philosophy.

Danny Rohl to be inspired by Barcelona manager Hansi Flick at Rangers
Rohl worked at Bayern Munich and the German national team as Hansi Flick’s assistant coach.
The Bundesliga giants won the treble in the 2019-20 season under the current Barcelona head coach, with the former Sheffield Wednesday boss part of the coaching staff.
Taufig Khalil, who works for German broadcaster ARD, believes the Gers boss has a similar philosophy to Flick’s, as he heavily influences him.
Speaking to BBC Scotland on 23 October, the journalist said: “His favourite tactical style is 4-2-3-1, it’s the system he played for a very long time with Flick — it was his favourite system. It’s in his DNA. It’s standing safe in the back, but playing very offensive football with a lot of pressure on the other team.
“Rohl likes to attack the other team so that the opposition loses the ball very deep in their own half. That’s what Flick did in Barcelona and Munich, and Rohl is very much influenced by Flick.”
Rohl is coming into a disjointed situation at Ibrox, but he’s previously managed to bring the supporters to his side during his spell at Sheffield Wednesday.
During a demanding spell at the Owls, the German head coach came in and immediately became a fan favourite, something he will hope to replicate in Govan.
Danny Rohl to bring flexibility to Ibrox
Rohl was flexible with his formations during his spell at Hillsborough, and that same nous is definitely needed at the Light Blues.
Rangers were rigid under Martin, with the former Southampton boss often playing various players out of position to suit his system at Ibrox.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the former Sheffield Wednesday boss play the best players in the right position to bring the best out of them, as he has previously done with the Owls, often switching from a back three to four defenders.
Fans in G51 are rearing to get back to the days when they challenged for every title and won domestic trebles, which will undoubtedly be a tough ask for Rohl, considering the current squad at his disposal.
