James Tavernier embarrasses himself with ‘disgraceful’ rant on Rangers vs Brann
James Tavernier has let himself and Rangers down once again.
Rangers fell to defeat against Brann as the Norwegian outfit dominated large spells against the travelling Gers side.
Danny Rohl took charge of his first Rangers clash and couldn’t turn the tide immediately in what was a disappointing evening for the German.
Chris Sutton has mocked Rohl at Rangers after the defeat, only adding fuel to the fire that is the Ibrox club’s frustration at this moment in time.
What won’t help is players like Tavernier speaking out and ultimately making themselves look silly in the public eye.
James Tavernier shares stale comments after Brann defeat
Tavernier has been vocal at Rangers in the past and often finds them coming back in his direction almost immediately.
The 33-year-old regularly makes his feelings known about the standards not being good enough and needing improvement.
That is obvious for everyone to see, but if the captain is going to make these sorts of feelings public, he needs to make something happen on the pitch.

The Englishman hasn’t done that, so fans have grown tired of his same old rhetoric and the lack of change on the pitch.
This has only been made worse after the Brann defeat, once again sparking Tavernier into life to dig out his teammates and the Light Blues’ performance.
In a near three-minute rant, shared by Andy Newport on 23 October, the defender wasn’t holding back after the full-time whistle.
He said: “It’s just a disgraceful performance, simple as that. All the years I’ve been here, for the consistency of poor performances we’re putting in, I’ve not experienced it before.
“We show our aggression after the games, after we get beaten. We expect all the lads to take it in, but as individuals, we have to look at ourselves much harder. We were just second best.
“There wasn’t enough fight, and I shouldn’t be saying that for a club like Rangers, that should be a given. It’s just far too easy to play against us at the minute, and that’s the hurtful thing.“
Tavernier should look in the mirror at Rangers
The skipper’s comments would carry weight if he were the one setting high standards for the Gers.
This wasn’t the case against Brann.
Emil Kornvig’s opener came off the back of his shocking marking, with the third from Noah Holm coming after some shocking Tavernier pressing.
The Englishman’s overall performance followed a similar pattern to these lapses in concentration, with little impact.

There are some plus points to his performance, but he certainly didn’t make anything happen for the away side.
Pot kettle black comes to mind.
If you aren’t hitting a top level, calling out your teammates for replicating your form once again won’t have the desired impact. It’s just embarrassing.
