Chris Sutton immediately mocks Danny Rohl after Rangers defeat vs Brann in first game

Danny Rohl watched his new Rangers side crash to yet another embarrassing defeat against Brann in the Europa League on Thursday.

Rangers were helpless in the 3-0 defeat on 23 October, with Youssef Chermiti wasting another glorious chance to make the scoreline better.

Rohl has only had a couple of training sessions at Auchenhowie, but the German is already seeing what got Russell Martin sacked.

Little effort and zero creativity, something needs to change desperately and soon at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl supports Rangers traditions in defeat

Chris Sutton is never shy about immediately reacting to the negativity around Ibrox, conveniently shying away when it goes right in Govan.

Before the full-time whistle had even gone in Norway, Sutton took to social media to mock Rohl after his first game in charge basically ended in tears.

He wrote, “The brown brogues not bringing Danny Rohl much luck tonight.”

Russell Martin disrespected Rangers traditions

Martin found out the hard way that you simply won’t be accepted if you try and do your own thing.

Ibrox and Rangers are steeped in tradition, and that is a non-negotiable.

It’s funny that Sutton joked about brogues in Rohl’s first game in charge, with Martin breaking that tradition instantly at Ibrox when first introduced as manager in the summer.

Rohl confirmed he would return to that in Brann, and did just that, even in defeat.

It may sound wild to those not familiar with Rangers, but Martin even ditched the suit for the majority of games, which instantly made him an outsider in Glasgow.

Either way, Rangers were once again embarrassing in Norway.

Looking at the stats via Sofascore, Rangers had less possession, fewer shots and big chances, as well as completing 49 fewer passes.

That would suggest a counter-attacking style, but even that wasn’t on show, so it only shows how big the task is that Rohl faces, and it’s much bigger than wearing a suit and brogues every week.
