Danny Rohl to instantly bring back Rangers tradition trampled over by Russell Martin
Danny Rohl has not taken long at all to put his spin on things at Rangers after being appointed as manager on Monday.
Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl was unveiled as Rangers manager at Ibrox 24 hours later and took training the same day.
Rohl was seen shouting instructions at Rangers training on Wednesday, too, as the German instantly looks to change the narrative at Ibrox.
Rangers have a trip to Brann in the Europa League on Thursday, and Rohl has already confirmed a return to tradition for that match.
Danny Rohl already learning from Russell Martin errors
Russell Martin did a lot wrong during his very short stint at Rangers, namely his inability to win matches.
In the view of some, Martin also broke with Rangers tradition in terms of his attire.
However, Rohl was asked by reporters at Wednesday’s pre-Brann press conference if he intended to wear a suit going forward, and he confirmed that he will.
It is telling that Rohl was a ‘tracksuit manager’ at Sheffield Wednesday, but he will be suited and booted going forward, starting against Brann.

It is such a minor detail, but one that will already go down well with the Rangers faithful.
Rangers have work cut out to end superb Brann record
Thursday’s clash in Norway is not quite must-win territory yet, but it is a massive game for Rangers if they are to advance beyond the initial league phase in the Europa League.
Brann are not exactly a European force, with the greatest of respect, but they are three points better off that the Gers in the league at this early stage.
The Norwegian side are on a good run of form, particularly when it comes to matches at their Brann Stadion home.
- Brann have won three of their latest four games and have only lost two out of their past 11
- They have won five home matches in a row and are third in their domestic league
- Their only previous meeting with a Scottish side was an aggregate win over St Mirren in the 2024-25 Conference League qualifying phase
Rohl will soon learn that every game as Rangers manager brings extra weight with it. A couple of bad results this week and already the negative tone will be set.
But the German has certainly said and done the right things so far. All that really matters now, though, is some positive performances and results on the field.
