Danny Rohl already promises changes in Rangers team news update vs Brann
Rangers will start a new era under Danny Rohl against Brann in the Europa League on Thursday.
With Rohl now Rangers’ new head coach, he has a massive opportunity to get Gers fans on board early doors with a positive result at Brann Stadion on 23 October.
Steven Smith saw Rangers drop more points as interim boss when the Bears drew 2-2 against Dundee United on 18 October.
The German manager is now expected to turn things around immediately after a poor start to the season in G51, and his first test will be in Norway.

Rangers fans should expect changes in Brann vs Rangers
Rangers’ YouTube channel provided coverage of Rohl’s first press conference on 21 October, as the new head coach was flanked by Andrew Cavenagh, Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell.
It seems the former Sheffield Wednesday boss understands the task at hand at Ibrox, as supporters are frustrated with how the campaign has panned out.
The German manager has now conducted his first pre-match press conference on 22 October, providing an update on his possible starting lineup against Brann.
Rohl said, “We will have some changes in the starting XI tomorrow, but after the first two days, I cannot overload the players, especially coming into a Europa League game. I am looking forward to the game. Over the last couple of days, I have seen some good things from the squad.”
Several players have underperformed this season, but they may now have a clean slate to start anew under the new head coach.
Mohamed Diomande has point to prove under Danny Rohl
Mohamed Diomande was ruled out of Rangers’ game against Dundee by Smith and will be hoping to make an impression under Rohl.
There is competition in Rangers’ midfield with Connor Barron, Joe Rothwell, Lyall Cameron and Thelo Aasgaard, and the Cote d’Ivoire international has to prove his worth to the German manager.
Rangers could sell Diomande in January if he fails to make an impression under Rohl, as the midfielder has been very poor when he’s played this season.
- Diomande racked up 54 appearances for Rangers last season
- He’s made 68 appearances in total since joining the Gers permanently
- Diomande was sent off in Rangers’ 1-0 loss to Genk in their first Europa League game of the season
Nicolas Raskin will certainly be one of the first names on the teamsheet, while the rest of the players will have to fight for their place.
Rohl is known for being flexible with his formations, and it will be interesting to see how he will fit the players at his disposal at Ibrox into his system that relies on possession-based football.
Fans saw what Diomande was capable of last season, with the 23-year-old arguably just behind Raskin as the Gers’ best player, but it remains to be seen whether he takes the first steps towards redemption against Brann.
