Danny Rohl pressure mooted already at Rangers despite ticking massive box

Danny Rohl faces a huge few months after taking the reins at Rangers.

Rohl was named as the new Rangers boss on 20 October, just 15 days after Russell Martin was sacked by the Ibrox club.

Rangers are sat in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership after a dismal start to the campaign under Martin.

The 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh have acted quickly after multiple setbacks, but whether they have the right man remains to be seen.

Danny Rohl ticks huge box for Rangers, but he may still be under pressure

With Rohl through the door at Rangers, the focus will now be on getting back to where they belong.

Finance expert and Sheffield Wednesday fan, Dan Plumley, believes that Rohl will be facing instant pressure in Govan, despite ticking the box of already working under financial issues and tense situations.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, he said: “It is a big step up for him, he is still largely inexperienced, that is not being disrespectful.

“He has the role at Sheffield Wednesday, he has had other coaching roles, with Southampton, people will look to his pedigree with the German national team as well.

“He is well respected by a lot of the players that he has coached, and you have heard already over the last 24 hours, a lot of noises from people who have worked with him, he is a well liked coach, he does have potential.

“He is young, enthusiastic, he is hungry, motivated, he is all the things you want, any managerial appointment still comes with a little bit of risk, I guess Rangers you are taking on a little more risk with the context of it.

“We know the passion of the fanbase, we know how big that club is in Scotland and around the world, so it is a challenge for him and a step up, but he has proven capable of working under pressurised conditions, financial constraints and owners that aren’t the easiest to get on board with.

“He has got a bit of resilience about him, it will ultimately be dictated by what happens on the pitch, it could be a smart move for Rangers in the future, but he will under a lot of short-term pressure given how the season has started.”

Why Danny Rohl is not Russell Martin 2.0

The German has been compared to Martin due to managing in the English Championship, but the two are not alike at all.

That is not an issue for Gers supporters to be worried about, Rohl is willing to play expansive attacking football, and perhaps more importantly, he is willing to adapt when things are not going right.

Martin was wedded to his system at all costs, and that ultimately was what done for him at Auchenhowie, and Rohl will not make the same mistake.
