Danny Rohl press conference was less about him and more about how terribly ran Rangers are
Danny Rohl has spoken for the first time since being named as the next manager of Rangers.
Rangers confirmed the appointment of Rohl on Monday, marking the end of a process that has lasted over two weeks, and has included several candidates.
The German has ultimately taken the job, despite having looked to have dropped out of the race last week.
Rangers had looked set to hire Kevin Muscat, but the deal collapsed in its final stages after disagreement emerged over the Australian’s hopes of completing the Chinese Super League season with Shanghai Port.
The former defender had not been the first choice, with Rangers looking to re-hire Steven Gerrard, but the Englishman turned down the job.

Rangers hierarchy questioned in Danny Rohl’s first conference
Andrew Cavanagh, Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart were in attendance at Rohl‘s first press conference, and faced a host of questions about the process.
After a frustrating two weeks that has seemingly seen manager after manager drop in and out of the race, Rangers fans were left confused when the German was hired.
Thelwell has taken much of the criticism, with the sporting director under huge pressure at Ibrox for a myriad of reasons.
Rangers hired Thelwell’s son, Robbie, to their recruitment team at the start of the month, prompting huge anger among the fans.
The sporting director was asked about the criticism surrounding the appointment, and said: “It’s uncomfortable to hear. Before we recruited him, two Premier League clubs wanted him.
“Right at the start of the process we spoke to Patrick, Andrew and Dan (Purdy). Him and Dan work well together and I am looking forward to him proving himself.”
The probe did not stop there, however, with several reporters asking Rohl about reports last week that seemed to rule the German out of the running for the Rangers job.
“I think important is the outcome that I am here, I think this is very crucial,” Rohl said.
“I understand this question, of course, when a lot of rumours come out and there’s a no and a yes, I think this is always difficult to understand. But for me, and this is the crucial thing why I’m here.
“We had a fantastic talk, and meetings, we spoke. Never stopped the communication, and I think it’s the reason why I’m here now.”

‘Absolute expert’ Rohl tasked with another massive job
When Rohl took over at Sheffield Wednesday, the Owls sat rock bottom of the Championship and looked destined for relegation.
But the German guided his team out of the bottom three, ultimately leading the Owls to a 20th-place finish in the Championship.
The progress would not stop there, with Rohl, amid a huge internal struggle, given the turbulent atmosphere created by Chansiri, guiding Sheffield Wednesday to 12th place last season.

Speaking in 2023, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who worked with Rohl at Bayern Munich and Germany, said: “I value Danny as an absolute expert who shares my vision and ideas about football.“
Rangers have taken a gamble by hiring Rohl – the German does not bring experience to what will be an extremely difficult role.
Decision-makers at Ibrox have put their heads on the chopping blocks, and only their new manager can stop the guillotine.
