Rangers and Kevin Muscat clash as whirlwind manager latest emerges
Rangers’ managerial saga has reached a boiling point as the search drags on at Ibrox.
After looking likely he would take over from Shanghai Port, Kevin Muscat will not be the next Rangers manager after talks broke down yet again.
Danny Rohl is sensationally in the running for the Rangers job once more, as Slaven Bilic’s name has been mentioned again.
Things have been tough at Ibrox this year, and it’s only going to get worse after Rangers could only draw against Dundee United on Saturday.
Now, sources are starting to reveal the truth about why Muscat turned away from the Bears.

Rangers sources clash over Kevin Muscat failure
Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe have had criticism over their decisions and leadership of the Gers, but it is Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell taking the brunt of the fans right now.
David Edgar has shared the latest divide around Ibrox, with Rangers sources saying the deal wasn’t successful as Muscat wouldn’t leave China sooner.
However, the Heart & Hand Podcast owner revealed that the Muscat camp says that it was known from the beginning, with the Australian wanting more control over transfers, too.
“Rangers sources saying the Muscat deal broke down as he wouldn’t leave immediately,” Edgar wrote.
“Muscat camp saying he had told them that from start, and it was because he didn’t like having no control over recruitment.“
- It had been reported that Muscat would join Rangers after finishing the Chinese Super League season with his current side, Shanghai Port
- Thelwell and Stewart are in charge of transfers
- Fans will believe Muscat camp over Rangers leaders
With reports that Rangers had agreed to wait for Muscat to finish his duties with Shanghai Port, the claims now emerging from Muscat’s camp appear to carry some weight.
Thelwell and Stewart are the two to blame for Rangers chaos
Cavenagh and Marathe should be doing everything they can to have a new man through the doors at Ibrox, as Steven Smith can only do so much.
The longer the wait for a new manager goes on, the worse for Rangers, and the stumbling block seems like it could be both Stewart and Thelwell, yet again.
Now, many managers have a say in transfers, and Muscat would have liked to have been no different.
Muscat wanted Rangers; he wanted to come back to Ibrox once more. But he may be protecting his own reputation with what could have unfolded.
