Rangers add another name to managerial shortlist as Danny Rohl talks back on

Rangers fans have grown wary of the ongoing managerial saga at Ibrox, with Danny Rohl now back in contention for the vacancy.

Kevin Muscat looked primed to replace Russell Martin, but the Shanghai Port manager has turned down the opportunity to take the reins at the Gers after advanced talks with them.

It appears that Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe have already made their decision at Ibrox, with the squad already informed of who the next permanent boss will be.

Rohl is heavily being linked with the Glaswegian outfit again, but the German head coach is not the only name on their shortlist.

Rangers have secret name alongside Rohl to be next manager

Another secret name is on the Gers’ shortlist along with Rohl, according to GiveMeSport.

The news outlet reports on 20 October that the former Sheffield Wednesday boss isn’t the only candidate being considered at Ibrox.

It’s been claimed that the Light Blues are back in talks with the 36-year-old head coach, but he’s competing with another name to take the reins in the G51 dugout.

With the managerial saga now into its third week at the Gers, the US consortium have left themselves open to criticism.

Initially, it looked like Steven Gerrard was primed to return to Ibrox, but the Liverpool icon turned down the opportunity.

Muscat was arguably the next preferred candidate among the Light Blues fans, and now any manager who comes in will have to win the supporters over quickly.

Kevin Thelwell gets his wishes at Ibrox

Gerrard was open to working with Kevin Thelwell at Ibrox, but the former England international wanted to have the final say on recruitment.

Rangers appointed the ex-Everton chief as their new sporting director in the summer, and he seemed to have an influential say on their signings.

Under the new hierarchy at the Gers, it appears the owners have given Thelwell the reins on transfers, which may not have been something both Gerrard and Muscat fancied.

It’s a real shame that the Shanghai Port manager won’t be coming to G51, as fans were willing to wait for him until the Chinese Super League season ended, but it looks like the Glaswegian outfit’s sporting director may get his wishes with a malleable figure in the dugout.
