Danny Rohl to touch down in Glasgow within hours with all the luck in the world needed at Rangers

Rangers are finally set to end their managerial saga with the appointment of Danny Rohl.

Rohl will officially be announced as Rangers manager on Monday, after talks with Andrew Cavenagh were opened again overnight at Ibrox.

It comes after Kevin Muscat pulled out of Rangers talks at the last minute, following Steven Gerrard, after the sacking of Russell Martin on 5 October.

Rohl is all-but-confirmed to be in the hotseat, though, with the former Sheffield Wednesday manager on his way to complete formalities.

Danny Rohl set to arrive at Ibrox and Auchenhowie

David Edgar revealed the timestamps of the quickly-moving developments around Rohl, who will be at Ibrox within hours to sign on the dotted line.

The Heart & Hand Podcast owner sent his own personal message to the German, saying he will need luck to turn an average set of players into winners.

Danny Rohl will arrive on Glasgow in the next couple of hours to finalise his deal,” Edgar wrote.

This will bring to a conclusion a two-week process that historians will use as a case study in how not to recruit a manager. All he has to be to succeed is a genius coach, leader, unbelievably cool under pressure, able to get results immediately and turn an average group of players into winners.

Good luck, son, you’ll need it.

Danny Rohl impossible to judge for Rangers

It is hard to judge Rohl from his time at Sheffield Wednesday.

Disgraced owner Dejphon Chansiri left him with his hands tied behind his back for the most part, with wages unpaid and younger players needing to be used before his exit.

Despite that, the young German still nearly pushed them to the Championship play-offs against all odds, taking points in 53 of the 89 matches he managed in South Yorkshire.

With key experience working in some of the best environments in world football, including Bayern Munich and the German national team, Rohl is ready for the big stage.

Martin was never the right man for the job in Govan, and Cavenagh will be praying that he doesn’t make the same mistake this time around.

Rohl certainly has more pedigree, especially in Europe, and he may need to show that very quickly with a Europa League tie against Brann only three days away.
