Kevin Muscat to green-light summer signing exit after tragic display in Rangers draw vs Dundee United
Rangers drew 2-2 with Dundee United on Saturday, with plenty of talking points emerging from the result.
The Gers were dominant in the first half, and rightly led through Thelo Aasgaard’s thunderous strike at Ibrox.
However, a painful collapse in the second period saw Rangers go behind, with James Tavernier forced to step up to save a point.
With Kevin Muscat expected to be appointed Rangers’ new manager, he would have likely kept an eye on the game.
However, this was not good news for many of the Gers’ stars.

Joe Rothwell once again underperforms for Rangers
Joe Rothwell was brought into Rangers in the summer with great promise.
The midfielder came into Ibrox on the back of a Premier League promotion, as he helped guide Leeds United back to the top-flight.
However, his time in Glasgow has been terrible, with Rothwell putting in numerous poor performances for Rangers.
- Rothwell enjoyed successful loan spells at Southampton and Leeds in his last two seasons
- However, his move to Rangers hasn’t been as successful
- So far, the midfielder has disappointed at Ibrox
On Saturday, this was no different, with the midfielder struggling against Dundee United.
Therefore, if Muscat is brought in, he has to look at departing with the former Bournemouth star in January.
The midfielder has done little right, and is clearly not a good fit for the Scottish Premiership.
It would be best for all parties to end this adventure, and Muscat will surely recognise this if he comes through the door.
Hopefully, Rothwell is rightly given the boot from the first-team in the meantime.
How bad was Rothwell against Dundee United?
According to Sofascore on 18 October, Rothwell struggled in both defence and attack.
Throughout the match, he only managed to win two out of nine duels, an eye-catching stat for all the wrong reasons.

Surely, Rangers can find someone better to play in this position, with Rothwell proving to be a liability.
However, only time will tell if the midfielder’s poor form can be turned around.
