Kevin Muscat could take Rangers job ASAP as four transfers demanded at Ibrox

Kevin Muscat is set to be confirmed as the new Rangers manager.

Muscat will take the Rangers job after Russell Martin was sacked, but only when his commitments with Shanghai Port are finalised on 22 November.

Closing in on a second Chinese Super League, Muscat could hand Neil McCann the keys until then before he officially moves across and becomes an assistant.

Kevin Thelwell is facing major criticism from those in the stands at Ibrox, and the incoming Australian could be about to hand him another issue.

Kevin Muscat lays out transfer demands at Rangers already

Muscat has solid connections in England and throughout Asia and Oceania.

Alan Nixon has reported that the former Ibrox star has already been working on a transfer list and hopes to sign them in the upcoming January window.

Sharing the news via his Patreon, Nixon insists that Muscat wants two central defenders, an attacking midfielder and another striker as priority signings.

Thelwell currently oversees transfers, but if the Shanghai Port manager is given a major say in the markets, he could make the move to Ibrox “as soon as possible”.

Where could Kevin Muscat raid for Rangers transfers?

After watching Shanghai Port’s crazy 4-3 victory over Qingdao on Friday, it is clear that it will be all-out attack at Ibrox.

If Martin was criticised for his slow, boring build-up, Muscat will deliver the exact opposite.

Shanghai Port will no doubt be the obvious option to raid for transfers, and Leonardo could be the perfect striker to join the Australian revolution in Govan.

Comparing the Brazilian to Bojan Miovski‘s best season in Scotland in the Sofascore graphic below, Leonardo has been involved in only five fewer goals, but in 21 fewer appearances.

Averaging more shots per game and more touches in the opposition box, playing the two together could be the perfect recipe to unlock both even further in Scotland.

Getting Muscat through the door as quickly as possible is crucial, so Shanghai Port wrapping things up early with definitely help.

If transfer promises also speed up that process, they simply have to be delivered.
