Rangers star could seek January exit without backing from Kevin Muscat
Rangers finally seem to have found their new head coach.
Russell Martin was sacked by Rangers at the start of October and the Gers filed a long list of candidates.
Steven Gerrard’s dramatic Ibrox return collapsed after meeting the Rangers hierarchy in London, but then Kevin Muscat started to emerge as a top candidate.
Muscat is now closer than ever to being Rangers manager, as he is set to take charge of the Bears after completing his final four league games in charge of his current side, Shanghai Port.

Nico Raskin needs to ‘feel the love’ from Kevin Muscat
Star midfielder Nico Raskin has had a tough time at Rangers this season, despite being a fan favourite.
Raskin fell out with Martin in a well-documented saga which saw the Belgian maestro axed from the Rangers starting 11.
- Raskin only started on four occasions in the Scottish Premiership under Martin
- He featured 48 times for the Gers last campaign
- Raskin recorded a staggering 16 goal contributions for the Bears in the 2024-25 season
The playmaker spoke while away on international duty about what he needs from the next Gers boss.
“It’s not a secret, it’s been a tough time for me at the start of the season.
“Feeling the love of the manager is top for me. Now it’s time to go back and help my team to sort things out, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
“Everyone knows we don’t have a manager right now. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m going back to figure out what the plan is.”

Raskin is one of the best players Ibrox has seen in recent times, and Muscat needs to do everything he can to get the midfielder back with a smile on his face.

Raskin could be the difference-maker for Muscat at Rangers
It’s well known that Raskin is arguably the Rangers’ best player at the club, so Muscat would do himself a world of good if he could help the Belgian get back on form.
Raskin has been linked away from Rangers following the fallout with Martin, but still clearly has an affection for the club, shown in his latest comments.
If Muscat wants to somehow turn Rangers’ season around into a winning one this season, then he needs to focus on Raskin straight away, ahead of his imminent Ibrox arrival.
