Rangers sources increasingly confident on Kevin Muscat as contract terms emerge
Rangers are preparing for the eventual arrival of Kevin Muscat as the next manager.
After what’s been a topsy-turvy saga at the Gers, it looks like they’ve finally got a replacement for Russell Martin.
Steven Gerrard was initially the favourite at Ibrox, but the Liverpool icon ended up rejecting an opportunity to return to G51.
Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe now have their hearts set on Muscat, with Neil McCann accompanying the Australian head coach as assistant to the Glaswegian outfit.

Rangers expect Kevin Muscat appointment on lower terms
There’s increasing confidence among sources at the Gers of Muscat’s arrival, according to The Guardian.
The news outlet reports on 15 October that the Light Blues expect the Shanghai Port manager to fill the Ibrox vacancy, although it won’t be straightforward, considering the Chinese outfit are top of the league table with four games to go.
It’s been claimed that the Australian head coach is keen on managing in Britain, but will surely have to take a pay cut in G51.
The Glaswegian outfit would have to pay Shanghai Port £1.5million in compensation as the 52-year-old head coach still has a year left on his contract at the Chinese Super League club.

Muscat is now the preferred candidate at Ibrox, and getting a work permit won’t be an issue due to the Shanghai Port manager’s dual nationality.
It looks like the Gers finally have a replacement for Martin, but it remains to be seen when he will arrive.
Kevin Muscat history at Ibrox sets him apart
Muscat is in pole position to take the reins at Ibrox, and he feels like the best option they have right now.
The former Australian defender was part of the domestic treble-winning Rangers team in the 2002-03 season, cementing his place in history.

It should also be noted that the Shanghai Port manager’s fiery personality during his playing days made him a popular figure among supporters in G51.
Muscat will undoubtedly command respect from players and fans at Ibrox, and he looks like the perfect person to turn the tide at the Glaswegian outfit.
