Rangers development ‘appalling’ as Danny Rohl withdraws from Ibrox managerial race
Rangers have seen another manager in Danny Rohl reject an opportunity to replace Russell Martin.
The former Sheffield Wednesday boss was in contention to fill the Gers’ vacancy, but Kevin Muscat now seems the favourite to arrive at Ibrox.
Rohl was a significant part of Rangers’ managerial shortlist, but he doesn’t feel like the project in G51 has come at the right time for him.
Steven Gerrard and Sean Dyche have also been linked with the Glaswegian outfit in recent days, as Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe struggle to find the right person for the job.

Danny Rohl can’t be blamed for Rangers withdrawal
Rohl’s decision to turn down the opportunity at the Gers shouldn’t come as a surprise, David Edgar says.
The Heart & Hand Podcast slammed the Light Blues’ managerial process to replace Martin at Ibrox, and the German head coach shouldn’t have been expected to stay in contention indefinitely while talks took place with other candidates.
Cavenagh and Marathe have had the entire international break to get the right person for the job, but they’ve arguably struggled to make the most of their time.
Heart & Hand Podcast wrote on X on 15 October: “Can’t blame him, it seemed we expected him to hang around indefinitely while we talked to other people. Rangers have handled this process appallingly.”
Gerrard looked like the first choice at Ibrox, and the former England international’s snub left the Glaswegian outfit in a tough spot.
Rohl wasn’t really a popular option among fans in G51, and Muscat will undoubtedly fare better due to his history in Glasgow.
Steven Davis return to Ibrox ruled out after Danny Rohl rejection
Steven Davis was happy to return to Ibrox under Rohl, but it looks like he won’t be part of the new backroom staff at the Light Blues any longer.
The former midfielder knows what it’s like to be at Rangers, winning four league titles and being appointed as caretaker manager after Michael Beale’s sacking.

Neil McCann is expected to accompany Muscat to the Gers, and the ex-Scottish winger is tipped to take charge of the team until the Australian boss finishes the season in the Chinese Super League, which ends on 22 November.
Supporters are preparing for the Shanghai Port head coach’s arrival, but the situation can change in an instant, as has been the case in the last week.
