Steven Smith is expected to be in the Gers’ dugout against Jim Goodwin’s team, according to Chris Jack.
The Scottish journalist revealed on 16 October that the Light Blues’ Under-19 head coach is anticipated to lead the senior team as Dundee United travel to Ibrox.
It’s been claimed that the Glaswegian outfit have a contingency plan in place, as Muscat would like to see out the Chinese Super League season, which runs until 22 November.
Smith will make his debut as manager for the Glaswegian outfit, with the former left-back taking charge of the training in Martin’s absence.
Cavenagh informed players to stay away from Auchenhowie last week as the search for a new manager was ongoing.
But with no sign of Martin’s replacement at the Gers, it looks like the hierarchy are forced to give Smith the reins for the time being.
