Steven Davis ready for Rangers return in latest manager update at Ibrox
Steven Davis could potentially be on his way back to Rangers as the search for a new manager continues in G51.
The Gers are looking for a new head coach after sacking Russell Martin at Ibrox, and several names have been linked with the vacancy in recent days.
Steven Gerrard seemed to be back in the running to replace Martin, but it doesn’t look like the Liverpool icon has any intention of taking the job right now.
With Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe leading the charge to appoint a new manager, preparations are already being made in case things become concrete.

Danny Rohl wants Steven Davis at Rangers
Davis will join Danny Rohl if the former Sheffield Wednesday boss is handed the reins at the Gers, according to the Daily Record.
The news outlet reported on 15 October that the German manager remains in contention for the next head coach position at Ibrox, alongside Kevin Muscat, who is also on the shortlist.
It’s been claimed that Rohl wants Davis, who is currently in Northern Ireland’s coaching setup, in a key backroom role as he already has his new management team in mind.
For now, Muscat seems to be the frontrunner at Ibrox, but the situation in G51 can change instantly, as was the case with the Gerrard speculation.

It makes sense for Rohl to have someone who is experienced with what it takes to be at the Glaswegian outfit, and Davis certainly ticks that box.
While the German manager may not be the most popular candidate among fans, having someone like the 2020-21 title winner in the dugout will undoubtedly be massive for him.
Danny Rohl doesn’t convince Ibrox faithful
Rohl’s lack of experience will be a sticking point for the Ibrox faithful, with his only stint as a first-team head coach coming at Sheffield Wednesday.
Although the German head coach successfully avoided relegation with the Owls after being appointed mid-way through the 2023-24 season, and they finished 12th in the previous campaign, this does little to inspire confidence among supporters.

Martin enjoyed relative success in the EFL Championship with Southampton but won just one of his 16 games in the Premier League before being sacked.
Rohl would be seen as another manager the Rangers board picked up from down south instead of looking at better candidates in Scotland.
