Rangers manager drama goes ‘mad’ after recent Ibrox developments – ‘Massive news’
Steven Gerrard was moments away from an unbelievable return to Rangers.
Russell Martin was sacked by Rangers on 5 October, and Gerrard flew into London to hold talks with Andrew Cavenagh, only to back out at the final moments.
The Liverpool legend insisted the timing wasn’t right, despite making the trip from his Bahrain base to advance negotiations ahead of that decision.
Kevin Muscat now appears favourite to take over at Rangers, with the madness not stopping.

Steven Gerrard madness at Rangers
Nothing is ever straightforward at Ibrox.
Having taken weeks longer than needed to sack Martin, you would have thought that Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe had plans in place after apologising to fans.
They crumbled when Gerrard backed out of the race, clearly.
Si Ferry could not believe the news, sharing on Open Goal that he was working when the news broke in the media over the weekend.
“Massive news,” he said. “It was mad, wasn’t it, the reaction.”
Andy Halliday went on to share all the noises he had heard from Ibrox, with the fans ready to kick on under their old manager again.
“I was shocked,” he started.
“All the noise since Russell Martin has left had been Gerrard, all the fans had bought into Gerrard, it just looked as though he was an absolute stick-on.”
Halliday went on to admit he had heard it would be Gerrard taking the job, before the bombshell dropped late on Saturday evening in Govan.

Steven Gerrard was not the right choice
There was nothing to suggest in the time since leaving Rangers that Gerrard was the right man.
Failing at Aston Villa and being sacked in 11 months, only to go on to Saudi Arabia and fail with Al Ettifaq, proves that he has only gone backwards.
Muscat, on the other hand, is flying right now.

After success in Japan and Australia, he is only four games away from a second Chinese Super League title with Shanghai Port, possibly delaying his arrival in Govan.
With nothing to lose, Cavenagh can likely afford to wait for Muscat, given that everything points towards his return to Ibrox in the coming weeks.
