Sheffield journalist ‘flabbergasted’ at what he’s heard about Danny Rohl at Rangers
Rangers are still on the hunt for their next manager.
After talks with Steven Gerrard collapsed, Rangers are no further forward when it comes to the search for their next manager than they were eight days ago.
Several names have been mooted for the job at Ibrox, including Danny Rohl, who has been out of a job since leaving Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the year.
However, Joe Crann, a journalist who covers The Owls, has been left in disbelief at the noise emerging from Ibrox surrounding his potential appointment.

Rangers fans are seemingly against the appointment of Danny Rohl
Rohl has impressed Rangers chiefs throughout their search for a new manager, having been linked with a move to Ibrox last summer.
Rangers opted to go with Russell Martin instead, with the compensation fee required to get Rohl out of his contract at Hillsborough a big reason behind that.
It was claimed that it would cost around £2.5million to bring him to Glasgow, though it would cost them nothing if they were to move for him now.
With that said, as soon as his name emerged on the list of candidates, a large portion of Rangers fans have made their feelings clear on the German, and Crann couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
Via X, he said: “I know things didn’t end how anybody would’ve wanted with Danny Röhl at Sheffield Wednesday, but I’m flabbergasted at how many Rangers fans seem to think that he’d be a bad appointment.
“He achieved a miracle in his first season and steadied a rocky ship in the second. Context is everything.”
What Danny Rohl achieved at Sheffield Wednesday showcases why he would be a good fit for Rangers
There are similarities between Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday.
They are both big clubs, with incredibly passionate supporters who just want to see their club doing well.
However, both have been massively underachieving for a while now, albeit for reasons that are certainly not comparable.

With that said, Rohl, against the odds, managed to keep the Owls in the Championship under immense pressure, which would be a similar environment he would face at Ibrox, albeit at the other end of the table.
Rohl had Djeidi Gassama at the top of his game, and he could bring that to Glasgow, while also improving several other players who have not been up to scratch this season.
With the search for a manager still ongoing, it remains to be seen where Rohl ranks, but it would certainly not be a bad appointment.
