Danny Rohl to unleash bargain buy’s true potential at Rangers after Ibrox update
Danny Rohl is one of the leading candidates for the job at Rangers.
Eight days on from the sacking of Russell Martin at Ibrox, Rangers are still on the hunt for their next manager.
Steven Gerrard’s proposed move to Rangers collapsed, leaving only a handful of names in the running to take over in Glasgow.
One of those who remains in consideration is Rohl, who could be exactly what the Light Blues need to get the best out of one of their summer arrivals.

Djeidi Gassama thrived under Danny Rohl
Rangers saw 14 new players come through the door at Ibrox in the summer, several of whom have already shown glimpses of their quality in Scottish football.
One of those is Djeidi Gassama, who has scored five goals for Rangers in Europe, but has yet to register a goal contribution in the league.
Upon signing, Gassama was hailed as a bargain buy for Rangers by Sheffield Wednesday journalist Joe Crann, who claimed that the Gers signed him for around half of his true worth as a result of the turmoil the Owls found themselves in.
Gassama’s stats in all competitions this season
- 16 appearances
- Five goals
- Zero assists
He exclusively told Ibrox News: “I’d say that Rangers are getting Gassama for about half of what he probably should be going for, and what he probably would be going for if Wednesday weren’t in such dire straits.
“That’s the general consensus among fans, too, and I’d be surprised if Rangers don’t make a bit of profit on him in years to come, because he’s got plenty of potential.

In his final season under Rohl at Hillsborough, the Frenchman scored eight and assisted one in the Championship before moving to Ibrox in a deal worth around £2.2million.
Danny Rohl could get the best out of Djeidi Gassama
With Rangers chiefs said to be impressed with Rohl, he certainly remains in the running for the job.
If so, no player will benefit more than Gassama, who has already shown flashes of his brilliance in an unbalanced Rangers side.
However, as demonstrated in the above graphic, Rohl was getting far more out of him in the Championship than the Light Blues have managed in the Scottish Premiership.
Via Sofascore, Gassama has averaged 2.1 successful dribbles per 90 in the Scottish Premiership, with 16.1 accurate passes in the opposition half.

Those stats are already solid, but Rohl could take them to a whole new level should he get the job at Ibrox.
At just 22 years old, Gassama still has an immense amount of potential, and if the next boss can help him realise that, Rangers will have a special player on their hands for years to come.
