Two Rangers players may be delighted after Steven Gerrard collapse at Rangers, another manager could be perfect

Rangers’ search for their next manager continues after Steven Gerrard failed to agree terms on a return to Ibrox.

Gerrard held talks with Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe in London this week, but it failed to materialise.

Gerrard would have been a welcome appointment for Bears fans, yet there were doubts over his recent managerial record and his inexperience in leading a team with several young players.

The new man who is leading the charge to become the next manager in Govan certainly has a proven track record of getting the best out of exciting talents.

Findlay Curtis and Mikey Moore could thrive under Danny Rohl

Danny Rohl is the favourite for the Rangers job, yet whilst fans are sceptical over his capabilities to deal with such a high-pressure environment, he could get the best out of two of Rangers’ young stars.

Mikey Moore has been slammed for his poor performances, yet he still managed to start frequently under Martin, causing uproar from the Light Blues fans.

With Findlay Curtis, it was the opposite; his bright start to the season was seemingly ignored, and he has failed to get consistent game time throughout this season.

Curtis has to prove his talent under a new manager, whilst Moore must enjoy some success during his loan spell, despite only being 18.

The question that was posed under Russell Martin was whether these young players were good enough to achieve success at Rangers at this moment in time.

Whilst the jury is definitely still out on most of the squad Martin assembled, there are few better managers available who could work effectively with the current crop of Rangers players than Rohl.

Rohl is proven when it comes to working with youngsters, and should he be appointed, it could be the best-case scenario for both Moore and Curtis.

Danny Rohl has experience working with youngsters

Rohl did a remarkable job of keeping Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship for two seasons, with young players playing a crucial part.

Rohl put huge faith in Djeidi Gassama when the pair worked together at Hillsborough, with the tricky winger making his debut under the German manager at 19.

Last season, he also oversaw the integration of Rangers-linked goalkeeper Pierce Charles into the first team.

Last season, Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday averaged the seventh-most goals per match in the Championship.

This is the type of stat that will give both Moore and Curtis some much-needed confidence in front of goal, just ask Gassama, who has exploded into life at Ibrox already.

As a result, the failure to bring back Gerrard to G51 could be a blessing in disguise for both players.
