Michael Stewart cannot believe what he has seen about Derek McInnes and Rangers
Rangers could turn their attention to Derek McInnes in their hunt for a new manager.
Steven Gerrard has turned down a Rangers return after seemingly being on the verge of agreeing a deal to take over at Ibrox.
Andrew Cavenagh and Co. looked to have prioritised Gerrard as their man to take over Rangers, but now have to assess new options.
Raphael Wicky has emerged as a shock target for Rangers, but McInnes is a name that doesn’t seem to go away in Govan.
Michael Stewart has now spoken out in disbelief after the latest development surrounding the Hearts boss and a move to G51.

Michael Stewart doesn’t know why Derek McInnes would join Rangers
McInnes has been a long-term target for Rangers, but has never been available at the right time for the Gers to swoop in.
Philippe Clement, Barry Ferguson and Russell Martin have taken over in recent years and have had varying levels of success.

The Light Blues now have a fresh opportunity to bring in the Scot, although the job he is doing at Hearts could cause problems in Govan.
The Maroons are top of the Scottish Premiership, while Rangers sit in the depths of eighth place after a terrible start under Martin’s management.
Gerrard may have turned down an Ibrox return off the back of this, leaving Stewart questioning why McInnes would take on the role live via BBC Sport Scotland on 12 October.
He said: “I’ve seen a lot of people in the last week or so, suggesting and talking about Derek McInnes.
“Does somebody want to explain to me why a manager that doesn’t have a job has looked at the club and said no? You need to figure out what the reasons are.
“Why then would a manager at a club with all the positivity [at Hearts] go into said club that the manager without a job has just said no. It doesn’t make any logical sense.“
McInnes would be right to snub Rangers
Realistically, it would be crazy for the 54-year-old to depart Tynecastle at this stage of the season with such an opportunity to win a league title.
Not since 1985 has a team other than Celtic or Rangers won the Scottish Premiership, highlighting how significant a feat it would be for McInnes.
Stewart is spot on to suggest that it is wild even to suggest a potential move to Ibrox for the Scottish manager right now.
If Gerrard can reject a bid after being without a job since January, there is no reason why McInnes would be keen on a switch to Govan.
