Frank Lampard reacts to Rangers approach as Steven Gerrard talks in dramatic collapse at Ibrox
Frank Lampard has emerged as a managerial target at Rangers.
Lampard has been sounded out by Rangers as the board looks to land a replacement for Russell Martin at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard was seen as the top target at Rangers as a return to Govan appeared to be on the cards for the ex-Aston Villa boss.
The hopes of Gerrard’s return have now collapsed at Rangers after the Englishman turned down a move to G51 four years after his exit.
Lampard has also been named as a target alongside Gerrard, with the Coventry City boss’ reaction to an approach now emerging.

Frank Lampard turns down Rangers approach
Lampard could have dropped Coventry for Rangers in what would have been seen as a brave move after an excellent start to the campaign.
The Sky Blues are thriving in the Championship and could be well on their way to promotion to the Premier League.
This high-performance level clearly caught the eye of the Ibrox board as the former England international was seen as a managerial target in G51.

Alan Nixon has reported via Patreon on 12 October that Lampard is committed to Coventry despite being sounded out by the Gers.
The 47-year-old is said to have no interest in even having a conversation with Rangers and wants to at least see out the season with the English second-tier side.
The Chelsea legend was previously considered a head coach option for the Light Blues as Graeme Souness tried and failed to bring him to Govan.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers embarrassing themselves at Ibrox
It says a lot about the new Gers owners that they have missed out on Gerrard twice since taking over.
The fan feeling surrounding the former midfielder was negative after his move to Aston Villa in 2021, so it isn’t the end of the world to many that he won’t be returning.
The board clearly had grand designs for the Englishman to lead their project forward, so it is damming that he has turned them down again.
Lampard would have made a positive alternative, but it is clear that he is also unimpressed with what is being presented to him in Govan.
It is getting embarrassing that two managerial searches have dragged on and could ultimately result in yet another third or fourth choice option.
