Ibrox chiefs ‘impressed’ with Danny Rohl as Rangers manager twist emerges

Danny Rohl has been linked with the Rangers job, months on from his Sheffield Wednesday departure.

With one win from their first seven league games, Rangers are fully aware of how crucial this next hire is going to be.

Since Russell Martin was appointed and then sacked, the Light Blues have been stripped of their identity, and Ibrox’s faithful have become increasingly frustrated with the direction that their club is going in.

This weekend could prove crucial in their hunt for Martin’s successor, with a new update emerging on their stance on Rohl.

Steven Gerrard and Danny Rohl in running for Rangers job

Steven Gerrard’s return to Rangers is still looking like the most likely outcome at Ibrox, though a report from Sky Sports states that there has yet to be an offer made, contrary to claims elsewhere.

Discussions with the former Gers boss have “progressed well“, with Gary McAllister potentially in line to join him at Rangers should he get the job.

However, the report also adds that Ibrox chiefs have been “impressed” with Rohl, and he remains in the race to become the next manager.

Rohl, who did a splendid job with Sheffield Wednesday, was linked with a move to Rangers before they opted to hire Martin last summer.

Rangers return to action with a clash against Dundee United next weekend, with it unclear at this stage whether they will have a permanent manager in the dugout.

Danny Rohl hire could affect Rangers transfer plans

Whether it be Gerrard or Rohl that takes over at Ibrox, Rangers will be getting a very good manager.

While the former has already showcased his success in Scottish football, the latter has earned incredible recognition for his efforts at Sheffield Wednesday.

However, should Rohl get the job, Ibrox News learned that Rangers’ move for Pierce Charles could be off the table.

Previous reports stated that the Light Blues had made a £1million bid for the Owls’ goalkeeper, which was later rejected, according to The Independent.

Rangers remain interested in Charles regardless of the whereabouts of Rohl.
