Connor Barron’s dream no longer far-fetched as Rangers share new announcement
Connor Barron has been handed a more prominent role at Rangers in recent weeks after impressing in the Scottish Premiership.
The midfielder has started the last four league games, but now faces a nervous wait ahead of a change in the dugout.
Rangers sacked Russell Martin last week, and are in talks in the hope of appointing his replacement before the end of the international break.
Steven Gerrard has emerged as the top choice for Rangers, with the former Liverpool midfielder having led the Gers to the title in 2021.
But Barron has been touted to succeed under Gerrard, if the 45-year-old is indeed to return to the dugout at Ibrox.

Connor Barron handed dream chance for Scotland
Earlier this month, Barron confessed that his dream would be to go to the World Cup with Scotland.
The midfielder said: “It’d be brilliant. Playing in a World Cup is something you dream of as a kid. Fingers crossed, and hopefully I’ll keep putting in the performances to get there.”
Those dreams appeared to have been dashed when Barron was left out of the Scotland squad for the second consecutive time this season for the October international break.

The 23-year-old had made his debut for Steve Clarke‘s side in June, but with just a few international camps remaining before the World Cup, his chances looked slim.
And, of course, there was always the chance that Scotland would not even qualify for the competition.
Just 90 minutes of football have seen those chances increase tenfold, however.
Goals from Ryan Christie, Lewis Ferguson and Lyndon Dykes saw Clarke’s team beat Greece to increase their chances of making the World Cup, before Ferguson was booked in the final moments.
With the yellow card seeing him set to serve a suspension, Scotland have called up Barron for the match against Belarus.
Rangers announced Barron’s call-up to the Scotland side via their official X account on Saturday.
Now or never for Barron
Given the fact that Belarus have lost all three of their qualification games, scoring just once and conceding 13 times, Clarke is likely to approach his starting line-up with chances in mind for players further on the periphery.
That could mean a starting role for Barron, or at least, minutes off the bench for Scotland.
Should that chance come, it could be the midfielder’s only, and he simply must take it.
