Steven Gerrard will love what ‘exceptional’ Rangers star has just done on international duty

Steven Gerrard looks more likely to become the new Rangers manager as each day passes.

The former Scottish Premiership title winner could be set for a sensational return to Ibrox, where he will look to undo Russell Martin’s mess.

Reports suggest that Gerrard is set for talks with Rangers, with the Gers likely hoping for an appointment before the end of the international break.

If all goes through, one of the biggest tasks the Liverpool legend will face is the squad, with Martin bringing in multiple new faces to Rangers in the summer who are simply not good enough.

Now, Gerrard will likely have one eye on the international break to see how his potential future squad is doing.

Oliver Antman impresses for Finland once again

While many of Martin’s signings have been poor, one exception is Oliver Antman.

The winger has impressed multiple times for the Gers despite their struggles and has continued to be a creative spark.

On his debut against Viktoria Plzen, Antman was hailed as ‘exceptional’ and his form has now continued in the international break.

Competing for Finland, the winger played on Thursday, picking up an assist in a 2-1 victory over Lithuania.

On top of this, Antman had an outstanding match, with Fotmob on 10 October awarding him the man of the match, with an eight rating.

As a result, Gerrard is likely going to be ecstatic that the 24-year-old is continuing to perform well.

If appointed, the manager will be looking towards players like Antman to hit the ground running to quickly turn Rangers’ fortunes around.

Hopefully, Gerrard will be able to get the best out of him and truly unlock his potential at Ibrox.

How good was Antman against Finland?

Antman managed to achieve multiple impressive stats in Thursday’s World Cup qualifier.

On top of his assist, he had a 91 per cent passing accuracy and also created two chances.

Defensively, Antman was also impressive, winning five duels and making six recoveries throughout the game.
