Ross McCormack hits back at Rangers fan who called out his ‘crazy’ new manager claim on radio
Rangers look to be closing in on Steven Gerrard as their new manager.
Gerrard is believed to have held talks with the Rangers hierarchy over a return to Ibrox, after Russell Martin was sacked last week.
Jermain Defoe dropped a huge hint on Gerrard’s Rangers comeback, and it seems increasingly likely to he will return to the dugout.
The 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh need to restore the faith among Gers supporters, and appointing the 45-year-old would certainly do that.

Ross McCormack thinks Steven Gerrard is the perfect fit for Rangers
Danny Murphy has revealed his surprise at a Rangers comeback for Gerrard, his former teammate at Liverpool.
However, Ross McCormack believes that the 2020-21 Scottish Premiership-winning boss is the only man for the role.
One Light Blues fan took exception to the ex-Gers striker’s opinion on the matter, calling into Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on 9 October, saying: “Ross McCormack made a crazy statement half an hour ago, saying Steven Gerrard, but he is going to say, he supports Celtic.”
McCormack fired back, saying: “What’s wrong with it? I can give my opinion.”

Gerrard would face huge challenges if he returned to Rangers
Gerrard would have a huge task on his hands if he made a sensational return to the Govan outfit.
He built a side that was ready to contend for the title over a number of years in his first stint, and supporters want success now, rather than a lengthy rebuild.
- Rangers have won just one league match this season
- They are 11 points off Hearts at the top of the division
- Eight points behind arch-rivals Celtic, who sit second in the league
The squad that he would inherit is not good enough to challenge Celtic at the moment, although it does have a few stars such as Nico Raskin, Mohamed Diomande and Djeidi Gassama.
Also, his record since leaving the Bears is a major concern, as he has been dismissed at both Aston Villa and Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ettifaq after poor reigns in the dugout.
However, it would be interesting to see the Liverpudlian given the financial backing of the new majority ownership, and he already understands Scottish football and what is required to go the distance in the country.
It would be a safe appointment, but one that would get the majority of fans back onboard after the disastrous Martin decision.
