Rangers need Steven Gerrard return, the numbers prove it
Steven Gerrard is among the contenders to take over at Rangers.
Russell Martin was relieved of his duties by Rangers, after a dismal spell in the dugout which lasted just 17 matches.
The likes of Derek McInnes, Stephen Robinson and Danny Rohl are also in contention to manage Rangers, but Gerrard should be the leading contender.
Gerrard has admitted that he would be open to a return to management, and the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh must do everything they can to bring him back to the Gers.

Gerrard’s numbers show why Rangers should hire him
Ex-Rangers boss Gerrard revealed that he hasn’t had the right call yet, but surely the Light Blues should be on the phone as soon as possible.
The numbers from his previous reign in Glasgow are sensational and should make him the frontrunner for the post.
For starters, his win ratio with the Gers was a huge 64.8 per cent, which is seventh on the all-time list of Bears managers.
The likes of the legendary Bill Struth, Ally McCoist and Dick Advocaat are ahead of him in that list, but he is in esteemed company.
Manager | Win Ratio |
Ally McCoist | 72.46% |
Michael Beale | 72.09% |
Bill Struth | 68.40% |
Dick Advocaat | 67.18% |
Mark Warburton | 67.07% |
Alex McLeish | 65.96% |
Steven Gerrard | 64.8% |
Gerrard managed a total of 192 matches in the Ibrox dugout, and in that time, his side scored 407 goals and only conceded 139 strikes.
His side conceded an average of 0.70 goals per game, which is the second lowest figure in Gers’ history, with only Graeme Souness beating that figure.
He had a points per game tally of 2.15 in his reign, for comparison, Brendan Rodgers has a tally of 2.23 in his time in charge of Celtic.

Russell Martin’s numbers were among the worst in Rangers history
Martin was statistically one of the worst Rangers managers of all-time; his 29.41 per cent win ratio is one of the lowest in Gers history.
His side won just five of his 17 matches in charge, scoring 21 goals and conceding a total of 24, a truly dismal team.

His points per game tally of 1.24 is simply disgraceful, considering the expectations in Govan, and he was rightfully removed from his post.
Many will argue it should have been done sooner, but now the board need someone who will bring the feel-good factor back to Auchenhowie.
Gerrard is that man, the numbers prove it.
