Sean Dyche will not be next Rangers manager as Ibrox shortlist latest emerges

Sean Dyche is reportedly not in contention for the managerial vacancy at Rangers.

Rangers sacked Russell Martin after the 1-1 draw with Falkirk on Saturday 4 October, and have already begun the process of looking for his replacement.

The majority owners, the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh are under fire to get the next appointment right, after the disasterous reign of Martin.

Dyche had been linked as a potential Rangers candidate, however, he seems to be out of the frame, after a new update was shared.

Rangers will not appoint Sean Dyche as their new manager

Rangers chief Kevin Thelwell was understood to have met with Dyche, as he looks to appoint the new man at Ibrox.

However, Chris Jack reported on 7 October that Dyche will not be considered for the Ibrox vacancy, and dismissed reports that he had met with Thelwell as inaccurate.

He states that Steven Gerrard is expected to be considered, while Danny Rohl, Derek McInnes and Stephen Robinson have also been mentioned as potential candidates.

Rangers need to get their next manager choice right

Some Gers supporters will be relieved, as Dyche is associated with negative, defensive football, which would not mesh with the Govan outfit.

However, he would have been a solid choice, and given the side at Auchenhowie, good foundations to build on.

The board need to take their time with the appointment, and make sure that is the right one, to take the Bears forward, and onto the success that the supporters demand.

The new primary ownership have already forged a poor relationship with the fanbase after the Martin debacle, and cannot afford anymore slip-ups.

Gerrard will be the standout candidate, due to his history with the club and his leadership abilities, but his record since leaving Govan will be a concern.

Meanwhile, McInnes and Robinson have great records in the Scottish game recently, so they may be perceived as safer hires.

Rohl represents the risky option, as he could go exactly the same way as Martin did.
