Rangers sources share two frontrunners to replace Russell Martin as final date revealed
Rangers will use the October international break to appoint yet another new manager.
Russell Martin was finally sacked on Sunday after a dreadful start to the season at Ibrox, leaving the Light Blues somehow sitting eighth in the Scottish Premiership.
Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers will now search for the fourth manager of the past year in Govan, with no time to waste already in all competitions.
Steven Gerrard is an early option to take over, but doubts have opened the door to other options.

Rangers appointment date emerges
Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action after the international break against Dundee United at Ibrox on 18 October.
The Scottish Daily Mail has reported in its print edition that club sources insist they are keen to move quickly and would ideally like a manager in place for that game.
Sean Dyche joins Gerrard as one of the two early frontrunners, after the new American owners admitted they got it wrong by appointing Martin in the summer.

Other possible options include Mark van Bommel, Danny Rohl and the always-mentioned Kevin Muscat, with the latter the only one currently in work.
Sean Dyche or Steven Gerrard?
They say you should never go back, and after initial success, Brendan Rodgers is maybe finding that out the hard way at Celtic, with discontent from every angle.
Gerrard delivered heavy-metal attacking football at its best when with Rangers, but has struggled massively at Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq since.
Dyche is the complete opposite, making his sides defensively robust and staying very traditional in his tactics, something which may suit this embarrassing Rangers outfit.
Premier League | Sean Dyche | Steven Gerrard |
Played | 332 | 38 |
Won | 93 | 12 |
Drawn | 91 | 8 |
Lost | 148 | 18 |
In terms of experience, Dyche is streets ahead and has tasted success in England with his tactics, taking Burnley all the way to European football.
It may be a real culture shock for his no-nonsense tactics to arrive at Ibrox, but it could be exactly what is needed at this moment in time for Cavenagh and the 49ers.
