Rangers board in turmoil as divide emerges, new manager hunt is turns into farce already

Rangers’ search for their Russell Martin successor seems to have already descended into a shambles.

Martin was sacked by Rangers after the Falkirk draw, with just one win in his first seven league matches, a dismal record.

The 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh are under huge pressure, after the appointment of the former Southampton man blew back in their faces.

The latest update in the managerial search will not have fans believing that things will get any better at Ibrox anytime soon.

Rangers manager hunt turns into farce amid new update

Rangers will not be hiring Sean Dyche as their new manager, and the search will go for Martin’s successor.

A lunchtime update from Sky Sports shared that there is no outstanding candidate for the vacancy, and the Gers are still drawing up a shortlist.

It stated that the board was divided on sacking Martin sooner, showing the turmoil that threatens to derail their search for a new Ibrox boss.

Rangers board cannot afford to take too long with new hire

The Gers’ board is already under significant pressure following the appointment of Martin, which was opposed by a huge section on the fanbase.

They need to get the next appointment right, otherwise, their season could be over, after the dismal start under Martin.

However, the suggestion of a division behind the scenes will not exactly inspire Light Blues supporters that the likes of Marathe and Cavenagh know what they are doing.

The board need to reassure supporters, so they need to act decisively, and the fact that they do not even have a preferred candidate at the moment, is a major concern.

If they do not get the fans back on side soon, the tensions will only rise and the Bears’ support base will show it, in the stands in Govan.
