Andrew Cavenagh jets to UK for face-to-face meeting in Rangers manager update

Andrew Cavenagh is set for some busy days as Rangers look for a new manager after sacking Russell Martin.

The Scotsman is arguably the worst head coach to take permanent charge of the Gers, winning just five of his 17 games in charge, with his tenure lasting just 123 days.

Kevin Thelwell and Gretar Steinsson’s managerial choice at Ibrox backfired, something the Light Blues’ self-appointed chairman will certainly regret.

Cavenagh will certainly look to call the shots after Martin’s failures, and the American is on his way to G51 as the Glaswegian outfit try to turn things around after a poor start to the season.

Andrew Cavenagh set for Rangers meeting in London along with Paraag Marathe

Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe are ready to take a leading role in the search for a new manager at the Gers, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reports on 7 October that the Light Blues’ chairman has set a face-to-face meeting in London on Thursday with senior Ibrox figures.

It’s been claimed that during the sit-down on 9 October, Cavenagh and Marathe expect to be handed a list of names to whittle through as the Glaswegian outfit hope to avoid making any mistakes with the appointment in the dugout.

Cavenagh will jet back from the United States to provide a significant input in the direction needed to be taken in G51 after a disastrous few months with Martin.

The US consortium know they can’t make any mistakes as fan anger has boiled over at the Gers.

It won’t be long before supporters take aim at the new owners for the apparent lack of leadership and direction at the Light Blues.

Kevin Thelwell should be worried about job ahead of Andrew Cavenagh meeting

Cavenagh should assess Thelwell’s position at Ibrox, as he championed Martin’s position despite fan unrest and oversaw an underwhelming recruitment strategy in the transfer window.

Rangers have also appointed Robbie Thelwell as their new head of recruitment, which has further angered fans against the sporting director.

With the former Everton chief’s decisions detrimental to the Gers’ success in recent months, tough questions need to be answered about him.

The American owners should hit the reset button on their project at the Glaswegian outfit and start from scratch.
