Kevin Muscat’s ‘lucrative, tax-free’ contract details revealed as Rangers line up new manager hire

Rangers are lining up Kevin Muscat as their Russell Martin successor.

Martin was sacked by Rangers after 17 matches in charge at Ibrox, and the search for his replacement is already underway.

Muscat is a Rangers fan favourite, given the fact that he won three trophies with the Govan club in his time as a player.

However, the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh, the Gers’ majority owners, could face issues if they try to appoint the 52-year-old.

Kevin Muscat contract details emerge as Rangers line up next manager

Muscat was in the frame for the Rangers job when Philippe Clement was hired, and he is being linked once again.

Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon on 6 October that the Gers would face two hurdles to appointing Muscat, who has emerged as a favourite for the role.

He stated that the “lucrative, tax-free” contract, that he is on with Shanghai Port and interest from teams in Japan could be huge concerns for the Govan outfit.

However, he also claimed that the Australian has always been open to talks with the Ibrox outfit.

Muscat would be a great capture for Rangers

The new leadership at Auchenhowie need something to get the supporters back on board, after the dismal failure of the Martin experiment.

Many have begun to doubt the ability of the new board to get the Gers to where they need to be, challenging Celtic for the biggest honours in Scotland.

Hiring Muscat would be a brilliant move, and would surely get fans back on board after their reign started in the worst possible way.

It should allow the club to find positivity again, and compete with their local rivals, something that they have not be able to do for a long time.
