‘What Rangers have now experienced under Russell Martin is astonishing’

Rangers fans are going through one of their worst spells in recent history under Russell Martin.

The Scottish manager appears to be out of his depth at the Gers, as they continue to struggle domestically and in Europe, losing to Sturm Graz at the Merkur-Arena on 2 October.

It’s high time Martin is sacked at Ibrox, with the Light Blues’ prospects in Europe also looking bleak after a poor start to the league campaign.

The Glaswegian outfit were all over the place defensively against the Austrian outfit, as the former Southampton boss’ style of play hasn’t borne any fruit in G51.

Russell Martin sees Rangers equal worst away clean sheets record after loss vs Sturm Graz

It’s astonishing that the Gers have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 22 away games after losing to Sturm Graz, Gary Bollan says.

The former defender who played under Walter Smith at the Light Blues can’t believe what Martin has experienced at Ibrox, urging him to change his tactics.

With defensive solidity arguably the foundation of any successful side, the ex-Saints boss must make tactical changes to succeed at the Glaswegian outfit if given more time.

Speaking to the Daily Record on 5 October, Bollan said: “That’s astonishing. You wouldn’t believe it. Martin’s obviously got his way, he’s the manager, so he’s got a system he wants to play and a style he wants to play. The way he sets up, defensively and offensively.

“But if it was me, I’d be trying to stop the leakage of goals. Because that’s then a platform you can spring from.”

Martin has failed to live up to expectations at Ibrox, and there’s no reason for Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises to keep backing him.

Ibrox faithful should be heard as Russell Martin sack a no-brainer

Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart should heed the Ibrox faithful, as tensions at the Gers risk affecting the American owners.

Things continue to get worse for Rangers under Martin, and a few positive results in the coming weeks won’t paper over the cracks at the Light Blues.

The Light Blues are arguably in a worse position than they were under Phillipe Clement last season, which should be a damning indictment of the Scottish manager’s failures in G51.

It wouldn’t make sense to prolong Martin’s affair at the Glaswegian outfit, and it’s time the decision-makers listened to supporters.
