Findlay Curtis ‘set for January exit’ after latest Russell Martin decision

Findlay Curtis has been one of Rangers’ more impressive attackers this season, but he is hardly getting any game time.

Russell Martin has baffled fans with a number of his selections in recent weeks, and the lineup he picked for Rangers’ trip to Falkirk had several surprises.

Nasser Djiga and Joe Rothwell were among the players thrown in to start, while underwhelming loanee Mikey Moore was picked on the wing.

Remarkably, young Rangers sensation Findlay Curtis was not even named on the bench, and this could hint at a future exit.

Richard Foster slams Rangers’ Findlay Curtis snub

With Curtis not even named on the bench and Moore starting, Rangers fans are frustrated with Martin’s deicisions given the difference in performance levels between the pair.

Curtis started superbly in the Champions League qualifiers, while Moore failed to impress in any of his appearances since joining on loan from Tottenham.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, former Rangers player Richard Foster claimed that he would rather see Curtis starting over Moore, given that he is an academy product rather than another loanee.

“If I’m an academy player at Rangers and I’ve been in and around the squad, and Mikey Moore came in and played in my position – for me he’s not done enough yet to be a starter – I’d be really, really disappointed if I was him,” Foster stated.

“I think Findlay Curtis has been more impactful thus far when he plays, and as an academy prospect compared to a player on loan, I’d much rather teams play their academy player.”

Curtis could be loaned out in January

Curtis’ development will only be stunted if he continually finds himself out of the squad and not playing at all, and if he is not playing by January, a loan move would make sense.

Rangers fans would be furious if Curtis is loaned out to accommodate Moore, but perhaps playing under a different manager to Martin could be beneficial.

Curtis has been named in the Scotland under-21 squad and there is no indication that he is injured, but he finds himself out of the squad despite being the only Rangers winger to score in the Scottish Premiership this season.
