Russell Martin has completely exposed Rangers bosses with new transfer reveal
Rangers’ summer transfer window is still being scrutinised, with their dire form doing nothing to paper over the cracks.
Russell Martin had barely made himself at home at Ibrox before it became clear Martin is not fit to be the Rangers manager.
Despite this, the blame for the Gers‘ atrocious start to the season cannot all be placed on the managers’ doorstep.
Sporting Director, Kevin Thelwell has rightly faced scrutiny as the fans have quickly lost patience with his project.
Yet again, the bizarre decisions from the summer are back on people’s minds.

Abdallah Sima and Vaclav Cerny should have returned to Rangers
Rangers brought in 14 new players with a net spend of £20million over the summer window, but what they have only just realised is that none of their shiny new toys know what it means to play for the Scottish giants.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Russell Martin said: “You can do many things within a recruitment process, but I’m not sure you can ever know about someone until they step into the cauldron.”
This is why two former players in Sima and Cerny should have been Rangers’ top summer targets, rather than gambling on unproven talents like Youssef Chermiti from Everton.
Sima spent the 2023-24 season on loan in G51 from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Senegalese striker netted 11 goals and contributed two assists in 25 Scottish Premiership games, how Martin would love to have that kind of output right now.
Sima also found the back of the net in the Champions League group stage and bagged three in six appearances during Rangers’ ascension to the Europa League final, where they so painfully lost to Frankfurt on penalties.
Sima returned to Brighton before another loan move to Stade Brestois, and eventually, he settled in France with a permanent move to RC Lens at around £4million.
Not jumping on the opportunity to sign the forward for that price should haunt the Gers’ hierarchy.

So, should missing out on Vaclav Cerny, who carried the weight on the Light Blues’ shirt expertly.
The Czech midfielder spent last season on loan in Glasgow from the German outfit Wolfsburg.
Cerny scored 12 goals in the domestic campaign and another six in the Europa League, averaging a goal every other game on the continent.
Wolfsburg demanded just over £5million from Besiktas for his services, that player and that fee yet Rangers didn’t get it done. Mind-boggling.
Kevin Thelwell should walk with Russell Martin
The writing is on the wall for Russell Martin; it’ll take a miraculous turn of events if he is to remain as Rangers boss beyond this season. Beyond the weekend even seems a stretch at this moment in time.
Thelwell should leave Ibrox as he has had his opportunity to get it right but has squandered it in spectacular fashion.
There needs to be a serious change at all levels of the club if Rangers are to look somewhat like a team that has a positive future.
