Rangers must terminate Kevin Thelwell loan as soon as possible after what he said about Sturm Graz defeat

Rangers were beaten by Sturm Graz in embarrassing fashion, but the fallout has been even worse.

Russell Martin’s side were easily carved open as they conceded two remarkably ridiculous goals in the first half, and Rangers fell to another defeat in Europe.

Kris Boyd slammed the Rangers back line after the first goal, but while they improved in the second half, this was not enough to rescue a point.

Kevin Thelwell has come under heavy criticism at Rangers after joining in the summer, and one of his several unsuccessful signings has now drawn anger from the fanbase.

Max Aarons gives disgraceful assessment of Rangers’ struggles

Despite scoring a winner against Livingston, Max Aarons has been an unsuccessful signing so far, having joined on loan from Bournemouth in the summer.

Aarons has delivered some woeful performances across the back line, and this has meant that James Tavernier has kept his place at right-back.

Speaking after the defeat to Sturm Graz, Aarons astonishingly hinted that the Rangers fans were partly to blame for their performances.

“The mood in the stands isn’t good, and it’s affecting us. But as players, it has to start with us. We’ve got to be the ones who get our fans up for it,” he stated.

Aarons should be replaced as soon as possible

Aside from his woeful performances since joining on loan, these comments reflect a weak mindset from Aarons, and one reflective of the excuse-making exercises Martin goes through every week.

To play for a club like Rangers, you have to deal with fan pressure, and especially when the form is as bad as it is right now.

If the noise off the pitch at Ibrox and beyond is affecting Aarons that much, it is clear that he does not have the right mentality to play for Rangers, and his loan should be terminated as soon as they can find a suitable replacement.

Thelwell made several loan signings in the summer, but most of them have struggled under Martin, and fans will be fed up of these players coming for a year and moving swiftly on after not giving their all.
