Simon Jordan hits back at new Russell Martin comments, says he’s allowed it to happen
Russell Martin had led Rangers into a state of turmoil.
The Gers sit eighth in the Scottish Premiership and have been consigned to Europa League football following their 9-1 aggregate loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League playoffs.
Rangers’ 2-1 win away to Livingston on Sunday papered over the widening cracks in Govan, with fans calling for Martin to be sacked straight after Max Aarons’ 94th-minute winner.
As anger continues to build over Martin’s stewardship of the team, several pundits are now starting to get on board with the discontent at Ibrox.

Russell Martin has allowed fan abuse to take place due to poor performances
Martin has failed to get the Light Blues to perform as, despite Celtic’s own issues, the gap between their arch-rivals continues to widen.
In the pre-match press conference ahead of Rangers’ Europa League clash against Sturm Graz, Martin admitted he was saddened by the chants he received during the match versus Livingston from younger fans.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 2 October, Simon Jordan said he believes Martin has facilitated the abuse that is being thrown in his direction.
“He has to be a bit stronger in his press conferences; he has to acknowledge the fact that he has to win football matches,” Jordan said.
“That’s what has to come out of his mouth, not him observing that a 12-year-old is sticking two fingers up at him.
“He has allowed this offensive behaviour to happen, and to be seeded in a section of the Rangers fans.”
Jordan initially backed Martin to be given time as Rangers manager, yet he has backtracked and claimed that the abusive chants from fans are just part and parcel of football.
- Martin has led Rangers to their worst start to a league season in 47 years
- He’s won just five of his 15 games in charge of the Bears
- As a result, Martin’s relationship with the fans has been completely severed
The team’s struggles have also led to Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell being subjected to scrutiny, leaving Andrew Cavenagh with an almighty decision to make on Martin’s future.

A pivotal week lies ahead for Martin, as two matches before the international break could decide his fate at Ibrox.
Rangers fans won’t change their stance on Russell Martin
Fan protests took place at Rangers’ last two home matches against Hibernian and Genk.
Supporters will always hate being told how to feel, and it seems near improbable that Martin will be able to turn the dire situation around.
The problem for Bears fans is that Martin will likely be afforded the time to make matters worse in Govan, with Cavenagh unwavering on his choice to trust Martin.
If boycotts continue to take place after the international break, Cavenagh will have no choice but to act, as over 12,000 fans missing every home game is financially unsustainable to say the least.
It’s quite simple that unless Martin goes on a 10-match winning run, then fans will never budge on their disdain for Martin.
