Rangers departure announced for player Nils Koppen liked as part of wider ‘agreement’

Rangers need to get more out of their talented youngsters and have a new agreement over potential loan deals that could help.

Fans are frustrated that Findlay Curtis is not getting a look-in under Russell Martin, with new senior and loan signings above him in the pecking order.

Other talented players have come through the Rangers Academy and been sold for a profit in recent years, with Ross McCausland now playing for Aris Limassol.

Rangers have now confirmed the departure of another youngster, in a move that will aid the wider vision for the academy in the long term.

Arran Kerr joins Stirling Albion on loan

Rangers youngster Arran Kerr has now joined Scottish League Two side Stirling Albion on loan, with the lower-league club making the announcement.

In a statement, Stirling Albion confirmed the arrival of Kerr, with the defender adding depth and quality to their back line.

Kerr was described as a “versatile and composed defender who is comfortable playing both at full-back and in the middle of the defence,” in the statement which confirmed his loan.

It is also stated that the deal is part of a wider agreement with Rangers, and this could mean more youngsters join Kerr at Stirling, who are fifth in League Two.

Former Rangers director Nils Koppen previously praised the defender, describing Kerr as a player who “works hard,” upon signing his new contract.

Rangers need to utilise loan market better

This agreement with Stirling could be what Rangers need to develop their youngsters better, with very few living up to the Nathan Patterson transfer profit after he came through.

Kerr could gain first-team experience out on loan, which could either lead to senior opportunities at Ibrox or a move elsewhere.

If Martin is to stay at Rangers, then the talented youngsters within the club may as well head out on loan, given the precedent he has set by Curtis being benched for the underwhelming Mikey Moore.

Kerr could have a bright future at Ibrox, but for now, he is better off developing away from the mess under Martin’s management in a toxic environment.
