Met Office issue weather warning for Scotland – Will it affect Falkirk vs Rangers?
Rangers will travel to Falkirk in their next Scottish Premiership match on Sunday, and they could be playing in tough conditions.
Russell Martin’s side will face Falkirk in their third consecutive away game on 5 October, after trips to Livingston and Sturm Graz.
Rangers recorded their first league win over Livingston and will hope to pick up more points on the road.
With the weather now turning as Scotland heads towards the winter months, a warning has been issued ahead of Rangers’ next league game.
Met Office issue warning before Falkirk vs Rangers
Storm Amy is set to batter the UK with strong winds and heavy rain in the coming days, and with Rangers travelling to face Sturm Graz in Austria, flights may be affected for the squad and fans.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning from 5 pm on Wednesday, October 1, to 6 am on Friday, October 3.
- Heavy rain, winds and some flooding are expected in parts of Western and Southern Scotland.
- There is also a warning of heavy travel disruption in these affected areas.
- The storm is expected to run until Saturday.
Rangers will be in Austria for their Sturm Graz clash on Thursday, but those flying back to Glasgow on Friday must be wary of the conditions they could land in, potentially causing delays.
However, Rangers’ trip to Falkirk is not expected to be affected, with the harsh conditions set to subside by Sunday as things stand.
Falkirk have an artificial pitch
Falkirk are one of three Scottish Premiership sides which still use an artificial pitch, alongside Livingston and Kilmarnock.
These are a manager’s nightmare, with Derek Cornelius and Jayden Meghoma coming off with injury scares against Livingston, and Martin’s side will have to adapt their game again to play on these pitches.
All three clubs have pledged to remove their artificial pitches and switch to grass by the start of next season, but until then, Rangers will have to adapt to them.
If the rain does continue into Sunday, though, then the artificial pitch may be a blessing, as they can cope with the wet weather in keeping ball speed high in bad conditions.
