Joey Barton unleashes foul-mouthed rant about Russell Martin as Old Firm faces ‘rude awakening’

Rangers fans are ufrious with Russell Martin and criticism of him is growing.

Martin has been booed by Rangers fans after a woeful start to the season meant that they are now eighth in the Scottish Premiership.

Many have called for Martin to go, with fans also demanding that Patrick Stewart departs, but the Rangers owners have backed him.

Martin briefly played for Rangers in a disastrous spell, as did former Ibrox midfielder Joey Barton, who has now had his say over the under-fire manager.

Joey Barton slams Russell Martin

Barton is now a controversially outspoken figure, and he has not held back in his assessment of Martin, with the former midfielder launching a foul-mouthed rant about him.

With Celtic also struggling and Hearts making good progress, Barton warned that Rangers could fall behind if they stick with Martin.

“You’ve got Russell nonsense just going ‘yeah played well there, good 1-0 defeat there, there’s lots of brightness and if we can just knit it together,’ and the Rangers fans are just like ‘get tae [expletive],'” Barton stated on the Common Sense Podcast.

“I can see it cause they’re going ‘who is this [expletive] who’s turned up here?’ We want a Walter Smith, we want a Rangers man.

“Tony Bloom is in Hearts, and he’s using his noggin. The Old Firm clubs are in for a rude awakening, and if they don’t get in the Champions League, that’s a huge problem for them.

“You’ve seen the problems of not making the Champions League for Glasgow Rangers.”

Rangers in danger of falling behind rivals

Rangers fans are furious as Kevin Thelwell has now hired his son as a new head of recruitment, and there are inexperienced and incompetent figures in senior positions.

Meanwhile, Hearts are enjoying a strong campaign under Derek McInnes, and Bloom’s investment has seen them operate with the efficiency Rangers could only dream of right now.

Celtic fans are unhappy as well, and they will both look at Bloom and Hearts with some envy as protests take place over both clubs’ directors.
