Rangers on red alert to sign Pierre Ekwah after sensational £5.2m transfer twist
After a busy summer of widespread incomings at Rangers, they continue to be on alert for new signings to bolster their squad.
The Gers have only won two games in all competitions since 9 August and could look to change their fortunes through the transfer market again.
Rangers spent relatively big on the likes of Youssef Chermiti in the summer, but their new signings have struggled to make an impact.
After Ibrox protests against Andrew Cavenagh and heavy criticism of manager Russell Martin, Pierre Ekwah could answer many of those questions.

Rangers cast their eyes on Pierre Ekwah after shock contract termination
Ekwah has become available to Martin‘s side after cancelling his St Etienne contract by mutual consent on September 1.
The central midfielder joined the Ligue 2 side from Sunderland in August, having spent the back half of last season on loan there.
An option to buy for £5.2million was included with the deal, and the French side opted to trigger this.
Mark Hendry has reported that he is now a free agent, and his representatives have reportedly opened discussions with clubs in multiple European countries, with Rangers on red alert.
Since making his move to St Etienne, Ekwah refused to take part in training and did not make an appearance for the French side this season.

Pierre Ekwah would revitalise the Rangers midfield
Ekwah typifies a modern midfielder who is useful in both boxes and can be utilised as a powerhouse in the Rangers midfield.
Naturally playing as a deep-lying central midfielder, the Frenchman is comfortable receiving the ball from defence and driving at the opposition – thus making a perfect fit for Martin’s tactical setup.
- Played in the academies at Chelsea and West Ham United
- Made 44 appearances and scored five goals for Sunderland in the 2024-25 season
- He has made five appearances for the French U20 national team
Having a similar play style to John Lundstram, the 23-year-old would be more than capable of dominating in the Scottish Premiership, and would be at the front of regenerating a downbeat Gers side.
After relying on Max Aarons’ last-minute winner against Livingston, Rangers are in dire need of a boost within their squad.
Ekwah will bring the dynamism and flair the side needs to set their season back on the right track, if his possible attitude problem is ironed out along the way.
