‘Jayden Meghoma may privately wish he never joined Rangers’ after what he has seen already
Jayden Meghoma was one of 13 new signings by Rangers this summer.
Meghoma has had a mixed start to his career at Ibrox, showing promise alongside some shaky defensive moments from left back.
Kevin Thelwell has been criticised for Rangers’ transfer business, taking some big gambles on young talents, Meghoma included.
Rangers’ disastrous start to the season has been largely blamed on Russell Martin, but the players also share some responsibility.
Meghoma has been far from the biggest problem at Ibrox; in fact, at times, he has looked like one of the few who have performed on loan from Brentford.

Jayden Meghoma may already be regretting Rangers move
Meghoma joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Brentford, reuniting with Martin, with whom he had worked at Southampton.
However, the English defender may be regretting his decision to come to Ibrox, according to journalist John McGarry.
Writing in the Scottish Mail on Sunday, he said: “Whatever it was that Jayden Meghoma believed he was signing up for when he agreed to join Rangers this season, it certainly cannot have been this.
“In agreeing to spend a year away from parent club Brentford by moving to the south side of Glasgow, the 19-year-old would doubtless have been swayed by thoughts of playing in front of full houses, winning most weeks and challenging for titles.”
McGarry also added that he wouldn’t blame Meghoma if he was already having second thoughts on his move.
He said: “Fast-forward three months, and the England youth international could be forgiven if he privately wished the opportunity had never arisen in the first place.”
Rangers fans will undoubtedly hope this is not true, as the teenager has been one of the bright sparks amid a dismal start to the season.

Rangers need Jayden Meghoma to continue his form
Rangers face Livingston on Sunday, as they look for their first win in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Martin’s side currently sit second bottom in the table and have been pretty woeful to start the campaign.
Meghoma, however, is one of the few players who has shown any sort of promise over the past few games.
- Meghoma came through the Tottenham academy before signing for Southampton
- The teenager made his Premier League debut against Chelsea in December 2024.
- Meghoma is an England U-19 international, having represented his country since the U-16 level.
The full-back has shown moments of what he is capable of, despite the turbulence surrounding him, which is to his credit.
Meghoma must now keep his head down, continue to deliver performances and try to ignore all the noise around the club.
Rangers will only benefit from this, as will he, as he continues to develop as a player.
