‘Sudden surge of support for Russell Martin’ after unwanted Rangers verdict on X

Rangers fans are unanimous in their desire to see Russell Martin sacked after some truly dismal performances.

The Gers have had their worst start to a season in nearly 50 years, and Rangers could even be bottom of the Scottish Premiership by the time they face Livingston in their next game.

Anger has also been directed towards members of the club hierarchy, with Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell under the microscope for the roles they have played in recruiting the manager and players.

With Martin’s departure appearing inevitable, the Rangers fanbase is united for the first time in years, but members of the media may have differing views.

Tom English fires shot at Richard Keys over Russell Martin

Broadcaster Richard Keys is the latest pundit to criticise Martin’s management, but despite his unpopularity, Rangers fans may agree with what he had to say.

Taking to X, Keys slammed the Rangers owners and Andrew Cavenagh for allowing Martin to continue in his role.

“There’s only one thing worse than a Board appointing a chancer who is clearly the wrong man – and that’s stubbornly hanging onto him. What are the owners at Rangers thinking? At least Leverkusen acted decisively to correct their stupidity,” he posted.

While Keys makes a good point, the broadcaster is unpopular with a lot of people, and BBC journalist Tom English fired a shot at him, joking that Rangers fans could suddenly side with Martin now that Keys is criticising him.

“Sudden surge of support for Russell Martin among Rangers fans…” English posted in response.

Richard Keys is right about Russell Martin and Rangers

Even those most opposed to Keys and his opinions woud agree with him on Rangers: that Martin is out of his depth and needs to be removed from his role.

Questions must be asked of those who hired Martin, but the refusal to admit their mistake and part ways with him now is a real red flag over Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises.

There was optimism after they completed the takeover of Rangers in the summer, but the mood has never been more toxic at Ibrox as fan anger has reached boiling point.
