49ers to blame as Russell Martin at centre of scenes never previously witnessed at Ibrox
Rangers’ misery this season has continued as the club lost 1-0 to Genk at Ibrox in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Russell Martin is close to being sacked as Rangers manager as tensions are at an all-time high between the club and fans.
Martin has broken unwanted records at Rangers, as it doesn’t look like anything will improve anytime soon.
Despite Martin‘s catastrophic start, blame has also been pointed at the 49ers, as the hierarchy have to make the next move count.

This article contains exclusive opinion from former Rangers star Derek Ferguson.
49ers urged to put Russell Martin out of misery now
There’s no hiding away from the fact that Martin has made plenty of mistakes while at Rangers.
However, it’s now got to the point where former Rangers players are now considered for the head coach’s mental health.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, former Rangers star Derek Ferguson has urged the 49ers to simply confirm the inevitable in sacking Martin to put him out of his misery.
“I’ve never witnessed scenes like I did at the end of the game yesterday,” said Ferguson, who was in attendance at Ibrox for his punditry duties.
“I had to take my headphones off because the whole Main Stand – and I’m not talking about the Copeland or Broomloan ends here – chanted they wanted Martin out in unison.
“There’s no way back for him after that. It’s on the owners, the 49ers, who’ve made the wrong decision and need to take ownership of that.

“It’s for the good of Martin because this cannot be good for his mental health. No human should have to go through this.”
Rangers were subject to poor officiating in their Europa League game; however, that’s clutching at straws as to what was another poor performance under Martin.

The 49ers have no option but to sack Russell Martin as Rangers manager now
Keeping Martin now would only damage the club’s chances of success this season even further, but also Martin’s mental health.
There’s clearly no way back for Martin as the relationship between him and the Rangers fans is completely broken – not that there ever was one to begin with.
Mikey Moore has been poor for Rangers, as has Mohamed Diomande. There is still enough quality in the Rangers squad for results to turn around, but that won’t happen under Martin.
