Richard Keys tears into new Rangers owners after what he saw happen in Germany – ‘Stupidity’
Rangers suffered a 1-0 defeat to Genk at Ibrox in the first match of their Europa League campaign.
Former Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu’s second-half goal condemned Russell Martin to a fifth defeat in 14 games in charge of Rangers.
Rangers fans boycotted the last two matches at Ibrox, with over 12,000 supporters absent in the match against Genk.
Supporters are clearly fed up with Martin’s style of play, and Richard Keys is also incensed by what’s going on in Govan.

Richard Keys criticises Andrew Cavenagh backing Russell Martin
Andrew Cavenagh has backed Martin up until this point, however, as fan discontent grows, he may be forced to bite the bullet.
On X, Keys posted his thoughts on the matter and criticised Cavenagh for not taking action against the former Southampton manager.
He refers to what Bayer Leverkusen did in August, sacking former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after just two matches in charge.
In Martin’s 14 matches at the helm, his record stands out for being atrocious:
- Dumped out of the Champions League by losing 9-1 on aggregate to Club Brugge in the Champions League playoffs
- Worst start to a league season in 47 years
- Sit 11th and remain winless in the Scottish Premiership
Keys is voicing the opinion of most Rangers fans at this moment in time, with Martin’s style of play becoming deeply unpopular as each game passes.
Against Genk, the team looked out of sorts defensively, with Oh registering seven shots for the visitors.
Whilst Mohamed Diomande’s red card massively hindered the team, Rangers had Jack Butland to thank for only losing 1-0.
Pressure continues to increase on Martin, and a loss to Livingston on Sunday would be disastrous for his Rangers career.

Andrew Cavenagh must swallow his pride and sack Russell Martin
As a result of the financial implications these boycotts will continue to have, Cavenagh has no choice but to sack Martin now.
It looks unlikely that Martin can string a run of wins together across multiple competitions, and as a result, Rangers fans will also direct their anger towards Cavenagh.
Persisting with Martin means Cavenagh will lose money and lose any trust he has from the fans.
Many supporters were against Martin’s initial appointment, and their fears have been realised as Rangers look like a team that is nowhere near challenging Celtic for any silverware this season.
With Cavenagh’s faith in Martin clearly backfiring, he must swallow his pride and relieve him of his duties before his relationship with Light Blues fans also becomes severed.
